volunteerism a re-energizer? You BETCHA!!

Sometimes there is nothing truly re-energizing than volunteering, it gives you such a new perspective on life! Its like working with a group of people, who always say YES to any idea you have. How cool is that?!

I've been volunteering at the local elementary school since the beginning of the year, and I must say whenever I'm there, or just leave them, I come back with such energy, enthusiasm and the most positive outlook possible. They are so *good* I suppose is one way to put it. They have a thirst for knowledge, and are at the point where they either gain prejudices or loose them. I organized an international fashion show last week, and had the teachers model the clothes, and gave a presentation on different countries. One of the teachers told me that last year a student in her fourth grade class, stood up in class one day and said my dad is a racist, but I now realize that no matter how different we look or seem, we're all the same, so I don't listen to my dad anymore. All I can think of is WOW WOW WOW, a fourth grader can realise this, if they're in the right environment or exposed to enough people to become global.

If you haven't volunteered before, I'd recommend you work with kids. I'd recommend you try and help prevent child abuse, and prejudice, because kids are the hope for tomorrow.

If you live in america check out the following sites:
www.preventchildabuse.org
www.savethechildren.org
http://volunteersofamerica.org/
www.peacecorps.org

The fourth graders have created artwork for smoking and drug prevention, I'm going to see if we can create a local exhibition for them, and encourage other schools to submit artwork.

peace out for now!!
